2025-12-07: Peace that Holds Us Steady

During this second week of Advent, we turn our hearts toward the beautiful and powerful gift of peace. Not the fragile peace that depends on calm circumstances, but the steady and enduring peace that comes from trusting in God. Isaiah 26 gives us a song of confidence, a reminder that God is our everlasting rock. Isaiah tells us that God keeps in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast because they trust in Him. That means peace is not something we work for or manufacture; it is something God creates in us when we turn our devotion toward Him.

Isaiah also reminds us that everything good we have done, God has done for us. That simple truth invites us to breathe a little deeper and loosen our grip on trying to control everything around us. Real peace is not found in the absence of struggle; it is found in the presence of God. When our lives feel uncertain or our emotions feel pulled in every direction, the devotion of peace is the invitation to rest in God’s faithful love. We trust not because everything is easy, but because God is steady.

As we light the candle of peace this week, may we remember that Advent peace does not come from the world. It comes from the One who speaks calm into storms, the One who holds our hearts steady, the One who ordains peace for us. My prayer is that you will feel that peace settle around you and within you, even in the busiest season of the year. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Him we find the peace that holds us steady.

Grace and Peace because grace always goes before peace,

Pastor Sharon
