Midway Family, you are in for a special treat this Sunday! Randy Morris will be preaching about “The Cost of Love” from John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This familiar verse is at the heart of our faith. It offers a profound foundation for understanding stewardship not just as a financial obligation but as a compassionate response to God’s love.
As we go into Week 3 of our Stewardship series, we are invited to reflect on our rule of life of compassion as a lens through which we practice our stewardship of service. God’s greatest gift, His Son Jesus Christ, was given out of boundless compassion for the entire world. This sacrificial giving in service to all of humanity challenges us to consider how we serve God and neighbor.
This week is especially significant as it coincides with Veterans Day, a time to honor those who have served our country. Veterans embody the spirit of stewardship through their courageous and selfless service, reminding us that true stewardship involves sacrifice and giving beyond mere convenience. It is about compassion in action, sometimes at great personal cost.
Like Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, veterans’ service invites us to examine our own lives. How do we reflect God’s love through our stewardship? Are we willing to give generously of ourselves for the well-being of others? Stewardship means more than financial contributions; it means a heartfelt offering of our lives in service, whether in our families, our church, our communities, or beyond.
As we serve this week, let us do so with the same spirit of love and generosity that God demonstrates in John 3:16. Let us honor the legacy of those who have served by living as faithful stewards of God’s grace, committing ourselves to compassionate service that changes lives.
May our compassionate service be an expression of grateful hearts, reflecting the everlasting life we have received through Christ.
