2025-12-14: Joy – “Breath of Heaven”

The 3rd Sunday of Advent: Joy: “Breath of Heaven”

This Sunday is the Third Sunday of Advent, the Sunday of Joy, and our hearts are already rising in praise as we prepare for a beautiful morning of worship at Midway U.M.C. Advent invites us to pause and remember the deep and lasting joy that comes from the arrival of the long-awaited Christ child. In a world that often feels weary, worship reminds us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. When God draws near, our spirits cannot help but sing.

Scripture teaches us again and again that worship brings joy. Something happens when God’s people lift their voices. Praise shifts our hearts. Singing opens space for the Holy Spirit to move. Even when life is heavy, worship lifts our eyes to the God who redeems, rescues, and restores. Joy is not a feeling that depends on our circumstances. Joy is the gift God brings through Jesus, the promise fulfilled in Bethlehem, the presence of Emmanuel, God with us.

This Sunday, we will experience that joy in a special way. Instead of a traditional sermon, our Midway Chancel Choir will lead us in a service of worship through their Christmas Cantata: “Breath of Heaven.” Their offering of music will help us hear the story of Christ’s birth with fresh wonder and receive the joy that only God can give. It is a service designed to fill your heart, strengthen your faith, and remind you that joy enters the world every time we lift our praises to God.

We invite you to join us at 11 am for this unforgettable Service of Joy. Come and worship. Come and sing. Come and listen as our choir declares the good news of great joy for all people.

Let your spirit be renewed as we celebrate the Christ who brings joy to the world and joy to our hearts.

Grace and peace because grace always goes before peace,

Pastor Sharon
